This thesis is about development of thermoplastic compound for electric closure to replace thermosetting one. The reinforced and flame retarded PC/PBT alloy is better at processing and recycling with similar mechanical, flame retardant and long-term stability properties. This thesis works on closure cover and closure body separately by different compounding formulation to meet different requirements.Finally we got the result below:higher HDT of the alloy is achieved when PBT phase is in the majority content. To achieve an HDT>150℃, PBT’s mass content should be over2times that of PC. Antioxidant168is supposed to work as an inhibitor for PC/PBT transesterification. And in the mica and glassfiber contained compound, there is also a positive result on strength and HDT when PBT content is more than PC content.This thesis make compound of PBT as continuous phase and PC as distribution phase and achieves tensile strength up above90MPa, with flexural modulus above7700MPa and HDT above178℃with a flame retardance grade of FV-0.
