In this study, the gradient composite design and nano-micro composite design areapplied to the preparation of self-lubricating ceramic tool. Select h-BN as solidlubricant, choosing TiB2/WC as the matrix, the nano-micro composite gradient self-lubricating ceramic tool material TiB2/WC/h-BN is prepared. The preparation processwas studied, at the same time of the prepared materials for the mechanicalproperties testing, the friction and wear properties and mechanism of the material areanalyzed. The vacuum hot pressing sintering, wet on the mixed materialdispersion, charging with laminated method were selected. The mechanical propertiesof the prepared materials are improved. Compared with homogeneous nano-microcomposite ceramics, the flexural strength of TiB2/WC/h-BN nano-micro compositeself-lubricating ceramic tool material is791MPa, increased by12.5%, the fracturetoughness of4.91MPa·m1/2, increased by8.8%, the hardness of16GPa, increased by4.9%.Friction and wear tests of the nano-micro composite gradient self-lubricating ceramic tool material are conducted, and its friction and wear propertiesand wear mechanism of material are analyzed. The tool of the entire life cycle frombeginning to end is always with self lubricating function. The wear rate is low; theabrasion resistance and friction performance is better because compared to thehomogeneous materials, the gradient materials can improve the bendingstrength, fracture toughness and hardness. The mechanical properties have beensignificantly improved and enhanced.
