Iodoargentate hybrid materials are one of the most attractivematerials for their rich topological structures and potential opticaland semiconductor properties, which mainly depend on theirstructure and interaction between inorganic and organiccomponents. On one hand, high dimensional iodoargentate hybridsare still rare due to the poor understanding of structural directingagents (SDAs), on the other hand, SDAs with unique functions arescarcely paid enough attention. Therefore, it is very important tosynthesize novel organic-inorganic iodoargentate hybrids, and probestructural directing mechanism and structure-property relationship-s.In this paper, a series of iodoargentate hybrids were obtained viasolvent evaporation and solvothermal syntheses, which have beencharacterized by power/single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, UV andso on. The results reveal that solvent, the size, shape, steric ofpyridinium cations and supramolecular interactions take importantroles in the synthesis of iodoargentates. In addition, someiodoargentates possess thermochromism, which due to the chargetransfer between the inorganic component and organic component.
