| Whether auto industry aerospace industry, precision-machined tool, energy, military industry, mould manufacturing and electron industry could develop rapidly, solid carbide cutting tools are one of the key factors. As a high-performance tool working on free-form surface, solid carbide cutting tools’ quality have a direct and important influence on the precision, efficiency and qualities of machining work. However, solid carbide cutting tools have a complex structure of spiral groove, bringing a lots of difficulties on its design and manufacture.Aiming at the low efficiency of manual modeling and problem of hard to modify the model of solid carbide cutting tools with complex surface structure, the three-dimensional parametric feature modeling of solid carbide end mills were researched, combined with the grinding manufacturing process tightly, the grinding process database management system of solid carbide tools were built up. The results indicate that this system improves the design and model efficiency of tools, and completes the unity on the design and production of tools’ structural parameters and manufacturing parameters. The main parts of research are followed:(1) The structures of solid carbide cavity milling cutter, profiling cutter, tapper cutter, side milling cutter and insert milling cutter are analyzed and divided into features. The mathematical equations of cylindrical spiral, conical spiral and spherical helix with constant helical are researched and deduced. Furthermore, the blank feature, circumferential cutting edge feature section and major cutting edge feature section are researched and built up with mathematical models.(2) Discuss the general modeling procedure of solid carbide tools, build up the rules of cutter parameters design combined with milling cutter structure parameters. Base on the UG/OPEN secondary development technology, build up the parametric feature modeling system of solid carbide tools, and realize the parameter driving of different milling cutters with different blade features, such as2teeth,3teeth and4 teeth milling cutters.(3) After having a research on the requirement analysis, conceptual design and logic design of grinding process database system, build up the overall structure of grinding process database management system and develop the grinding process database management system based on the SQL SERVER2008database. The system is integrated with the parametric modeling system and realizes the management of various users, geometrical parameters of tool design, grinding data and all the data requirement. |
