| The polymer compound of which the molecular structure contains epoxy groups iscollectively referred to as epoxy resin. Cured epoxy resin has good chemical andphysical properties, and good electrical properties, high product stability, corrosionresistance, besides, epoxy resin has high adhesiveness whether for metallic ornon-metallic, hence, it is widely applied to the military, automotive, aerospace, chemicalcorrosion and other areas. Nylon6(PA6) is a thermoplastic plastic with excellentmechanical property. The disadvantages such as poor impact resistance and largebibulous rate extremely limit its application in various kinds of fields, although it hasgood mechanical properties, self-lubricating and wear resistance. In this issue, firstly, wemodify epoxy resin with benzenetetracarboxylic anhydride, and then we use themodified epoxy resin and nylon6to prepare a nylon6/epoxy composite by meltblending. After scanning electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy to observe thecharacteristics and composition of the composite, analyzing the crystalline properties ofthe composites by different scanning calorimetry, and analyzing the mechanicalproperties of the composites by electronic universal testing machine, we obtain the mainconclusions as follows,1, By meanings of IR spectrum, benzenetetracarboxylic anhydride toughened epoxyresin successfully and the reaction occurred smoothly to produce a new linear epoxyprepolymer. Adding epoxy resin in nylon6greatly improves the mechanical propertiesof the composites, but reduces the growth rate of fracture of composite material.2, Through the studies crystallization process of epoxy/nylon6and meltingbehavior, we find that the adding of epoxy has played a role for heterogeneousnucleation, which enhances the crystallization rate. Avrami equation is suitable fordealing with the isothermal crystallization kinetics process for nylon6and epoxy/nylon 6, while, the modified Avrami equation by Jeziorny and Mo method can deal withnon-isothermal crystallization kinetics for composite materials much better, and obtainthe equilibrium melting point for the composite materials using Hoffman-Weeksformula.3, After analyzing the thermal properties for nylon6/epoxy by thermogravimetricanalyzer, we obtain that, the heat distortion temperature of the composite material willincrease with the amount of epoxy resin powder after adding epoxy resin in it.Consequently, we conclude that adding epoxy resin powder into the composite materialswill enhance the thermal stability for the composites. |
