Study And Restoration Of Wedding Attire At Modern Folk Qilu Area

The wedding attire for bride is one of the most unique Chinese traditional costumes,while the folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas, which occupies an important positionin Chinese traditional costumes, is quite representative. The folk wedding attire atmodern Qilu areas not only has a general feature of the traditional wedding attire, butalso has the characters of region and culture at Qilu areas. Research and restoration of thewedding attire at modern Qilu areas is the improvement and expansion of bridal weddingattire theoretical system; furthermore, it is also the excavations and heritage of historicaland cultural value of the folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas.Focusing on the special historical background, this study investigates the status andtrends of Wedding attire at modern Qilu areas at home and abroad. By visiting museums,cultural centers and other private craft workshops (such as Hua Xiu Ge in Zibo),combined with abundance literatures and fieldworks, the study completes theexperiments of restoration of the wedding attire at modern Qilu areas. Thereby, the studyalso analyses the principle of design and technology, and enhances details of processresearch.Firstly, the study analyses the historical evolution and development characteristicsof traditional Chinese Wedding attire, and elaborates the development history andgeographical characteristics of folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas. Secondly, thestudy emphases the research and analysis of design elements of folk wedding attire atmodern Qilu areas, and expatiates culture and design ideas indicated by elements (suchas dress shape, decoration and color) of folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas.Thirdly, the study restores the typical folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas. In the restoration process, the study expanses theoretical knowledge and traditional productiontechniques knowledge of folk wedding attire at modern Qilu areas and improve theimplementing ability of traditional technology. At last, it is summarized that designelements and production techniques of wedding attire at modern Qilu areas are not amere skills, but the reflection and carrier of social and human value.The theoretic and experience gained during studying and restoring folk weddingattire at modern Qilu areas have special reference to the later study, inherits and developsdesign content and production techniques of traditional wedding attire, and reflects thehigh requirements of wedding attire by people in Modern Qilu and intelligence andwisdom of artisans. It is influential to explore the aesthetic orientation and humanisticvalues of wedding attire culture.
