Laser-arc hybrid welding torch is one vital part of laser-arc hybrid welding devices. Its performance and tuning accuracy directly determine the quality of welding. This paper is based on the advancing project. For the technical parameters of TRUMPFHL4006D Nd:YAG solid laser device and FroniusAl30-600semi-automatic arc welding machine applied in the welding experience, the design and research of Nd:YAG laser-MAG arc hybrid welding torch is carried out. In this paper, a overall structure plan is put forward and the key components are designed. Then finite element analysis of the key components and overall structure is given. The main research findings is as follows:(1) Defocusing amount adjusting mechanism of laser-arc hybrid welding torch is designed on the basis of cylinder cam structure.(2) The cavity structure of crossjet is designed based on laval cavity theory. The gas speed can be rasied to supersonic speed at the exit of crossjet. Such crossjet can blow splash particles and plasma. Focusing mirror is well protected when it is used in the experiment.(3) The angle adjustment of MAG torch is designed according to planetary gear drive mechanism. Such adjusting mechanism can vary laser-arc distance accurately. The self-locking function of planetary gear drive mechanism can ensure the fixed distance between wire and laser spot in the course of laser-arc hybrid welding.(4) Static analysis with respect to overall mechanical structure of YAG laser welding torch is performed with finite element software ANSYSWorkbenchl4.5to observe deformation of optical supporting structure. And then the first six modal analysis is conducted to examine natural frequency and dynamic characteristic to overall system. On the basis of result of the analysis the massive structure of YAG laser-MAG arc hybrid welding torch is improved to improve the dynamic stiffness and guarantee quality of laser spot.(5) Nd:YAG laser-MAG arc hybrid welding torch designed in this paper is used to weld the high strength steel of8mm.The experiment is divided into two:varying defocusing and varying laser-arc distance. The result show that focusing mechanism and angle adjusting mechanism are running handiness in high dependability.
