One of the key components of the glassware open molding pressing machine is air cooling system which helps machine to mold products. It is integrated with the item of Tianjin government which is called "The research of the new style of the glassware press machine". In the light of the structure and function characteristic of air cooling system, and puts forward the idea of parametric design for air cooling system of glassware pressing machine basing on deeply study on rapid design theory and basic methods for mechanical product design. Completed Pro/E the secondary development in the use of Pro/TOOLKIT, air cooling system CAD system and user friendly interface are set up, achieving rapid design and decreasing the cycle of designing air cooling system.This paper introduces the principle and the function of the air cooling system in detail, focus on analysis the influence factors of the glass quality and die life, obtain the air ventilation, pressure, speed and temperature of the air cooling system have main effect on the quality of the glass product, puts forward the material selection principles of the die in order to prolong the die service life.Air cooling system CAD system is built on the basis of parametric design idea, powerful function of design software Pro/E secondary development and resources of Visual C++6.0MFC class library, combined with characteristics of air cooling system. IN the Pro/E environment, the system finishes constructing the solid model and virtual assembly, and establishes the system framework and the parametric model library of the air cooling system secondary development, writes down all the parameters in Access2003data table as the database of the system, using ODBC of control panel to link Access2003with the MFC and using DLL to communicate between MFC and Pro/TOOLKIT, combination of the Pro/TOOLKIT and VC++6.0to write applications, design the user friendly interface, finally program to fulfill functions for parametric design of air cooling system. Actually, those are advantageous to the developing the whole of glassware press machine CAD system.The ventilation box is the key part of the air cooling system, not only needs to connect the cooling duct, but also installs with the external cooling facilities and glassware mold press machine, so it appears particularly important for the ventilation box to finite element analysis. This paper introduces the ventilation box finite element analysis in detail, and puts forward some qualitative optimization according to the analysis results.
