Electrical discharge surface strengthening strengthening has been widely used in manufacturing industries such as cars, aerospace and mold and performed better as a brand-new technology that is different from traditional machining. As a kind of EDM, Electrical discharge surface strengthening strengthening is being placed more and more emphasize due to its wide use. Researches on this technique is meaningful to widening its use and boosting its development.Firstly, the thesis tells the characters, developing history, current situation of EDSS, after that, introduces its basic principle, processing of working and influencing factors. Besides, some elementary theories about numerical simulation such as heat transferring, elastic and plastic theory are explained detailedly. Secondly, the whole process of numerical simulation on EDSS is introduced, including establishing the models of heat resources and mathematics, setting boundary situations, selecting proper material properties. In order to increase the calculating accuracy, material properties at high temperatures is dealt with appropriately in this article, in addition, the size needed to mesh and element type are seemly selected, so the finite element model built finally can be easily analyzed and reflect the real situation. Basing on this, the results of numerical simulation are analyzed comprehensively and some instructive actions to conduct practice are brought forward. After that, the influence of parameters on EDSS is interpreted relatively. The regression model whose target variable is processing effects is built by using the software MATLAB and optimized afterwards. Lastly, the influence of parameters on the strengthening effects is further analyzed, besides, the workpiece is compared with the original sample on hardness and corrosion resistance.This paper not only provides theoretical basis and guidance for temperature field and stress field analysis.of different forms of EDSS.and promotes the use of finite element method in research on the mechanism of EDSS and practical applications, but also provides theoretical guidance for choosing processing parameters.
