Cyclone preheater is the most essential thermal equipment in the new type dry processcement production. It takes full advantage of the waste gas at the kiln to heat up the rawmaterial. With the help of CFD software Fluent, this paper simulation C1-C5cyclones flowfield in5000t/d cement production. The gas velocity changes in cyclone is studied, as well asthe pressure distribution. The movement and separation efficiency of raw material withincyclone is analysed. Factors affecting the performance of cyclone is discussed. The maincontents and results are as follows:(1) According to the size of the of the cyclone cylinder of actual production, thegeometrical models of the C1-C5cyclones in the5000t/d cement clinker production isestablished by Gambit software. The mathematical models of the C1-C5cyclones’ flow fieldis established by governing equation.(2) The single gas phase of cold flow field in the C1-C5cyclones is simulated by Fluentsoftware and the speed as well as pressure of the gas flow was ananlysed. The results showthat the overall structure of the flow field in C1-C5cyclones is boundary downward spiral andthe center upward spiral. As for pressure field, the low pressure area distributes along thecenter axis, the high pressure area locates at the bottom of the inner cylinder. Both the speedfield and pressure field distribution are characterized with symmetry.(3)Based on the simulation of single gas phase cold flow field, raw material particles ofC1-C5cyclones are simulated, and the trajectory of the particles is obtained. Raw particlesfollws with gas to do rotary motion in the cyclone cylinder. Due to the centrifugal force,particles forme rotation granular layer at the wall of cyclone. At the same time, the particlesmove rotating donward zone with gas flow. Under effect gravity, the particle is dischargedfrom port discharge.(4) Influencing factors on C1-C5-cyclones in5000t/d production are optimized. Afterthe simulation calculation of C1-C5cyclone, the results show that the ratio of diameter for theinternal cylinder and the cylinder tuberanges from0.45to0.65. The ratio for C1cyclonediameter ranges from0.45to0.55. The insertion of the length of the inner cylinder should notbe too long, and the ratio is generally in the range of0.3to0.5.The cyclone inlet velocity is between17m/s-21m/s. Raw material particle size is between20μm to40μm.
