MOFs are chelate polymers formed by the central metal ion and the organicligands linked by coordinate bonds. It has various advantages, such as large specificsurface area, magnetic and optical properties as well as catalytical properties.Nitrogenatom in imidazoles derivatives has strong coordination ability, which is easilly toformed hydrogen bond and beneficial to the formation of crystals. It is vitalsignificance of complicated spatial structures formed by coordination polymers withthe nitrogen atom.Five ligands have been designed in this paper including BME(1,2-bis[1-(2–methylimidazole)-diethoxy]-ethane),BIB(1,4-[bis(2-phenyldiazene)imidazolyl]butane),BPE(1,2-[bis(2-phenyldiazene)imidazolyl]ethyoxyl-ethane),3-PIM(2-(3-pyridinyl)imidazole),4-PIM(2-(4-pyridinyl)imidazole).14kinds of new coordination polymerswere formed when they were used with multivariate carboxylic acid ligands anddifferent anions Zn(II), Cd(II) and Ag(I) through hydrothermal method or diffusion.Ligand about BME(1,2-bis[1-(2–methylimidazole)-diethoxy]-ethane) has beensynthesized, which has eight atoms in chain and own the flexible coordination ability.Five novel metal-organic coordination compounds were synthesized by diversecarboxylic acid and ligands.[Zn3(BME)0.5(BTC)2(H2O)4]n(1),[Zn(BME)(m-BDC)-(H2O)]n(2),[Zn(BME)(BDC)(H2O)3]n(3),[Zn(BME)(ox)]n(4),[Cd(BME)(ox)]n(5).Compound1is a three-dimensional reticular structure, Compound2to5are aone-dimensional chain structures. Their crystal structure, strong thermal stability andfluorescence properties were studied.Photochromic properties in azo groups was combined with strong coordinationabilitable imidazoles to create two new bridge connect phenyl azo imidazoles ligandsBIB(1,4-[bis(2-phenyldiazene)imidazolyl]butane) and BPE(1,2-[bis(2-phenyldiazene)imidazol]ethyoxyl-ethane) by using them. we have compound three new complexes.They were [Cd(BIB)(m-BDC)]n(6),[Cd(BIB)(NO3)2]n·CH2Cl2(7),[Ag4(BPE)4(ClO4)4(H2O)]·2(NH3)(8). Compound6and7are a one-dimensional chain structures,Compound8is zero dimensional structure They were good materials with thermal stability.The pyridine ring owns huge coordination ability was united with imidazole ringto synthetize the two kinds of rigid pyridine-imidazole ligands3-PIM=2-(3-pyridinyl)-imidazole and4-PIM=2-(4-pyridinyl)imidazole. they can be targeted for molecularself-assembly by differences coordinated angles. Six kinds of coordinationcompounds were synthesized.[Cd6(3-PIM)4(1,4-Nap)6]n(9),[Zn(3-PIM)(1,4-Nap)]n(10),[Zn2(3-PIM)2(Suc)Cl2](11),[Ag2(3-PIM)2(ClO4)2(H2O)2](12),[Zn(4-PIM)(TPA)(H2O)2.5]n(13),[Cd(4-PIM)(NO3)(H2O)2](14).Compound9,10,13are a3D reticularstructure. Their top-structure respectively are (35.43.5.72.83.93.103.11),(63.83) and(65.8). Compound11,12and14are zero dimensional structure The crystal structurewere had with strong thermal stability and optical properties.
