Water transfer printing technology is widely sued to print on a three-dimensionalcurved object or complex surface. It has many advantages such as rich colour, clearpicture, and realistic image. High quality digital inkjet water transfer printing hasbecome a effective method of printing DIY. However, high quality digital inkjet watertransfer paper mainly dependent on import, scarcely any manufacturer has the coretechnology in domestic. Compared with import products, paper produced in domestichas poor ink absorption performance, bad image fidelity. Therefore, the furtherresearch of high-quality digital inkjet water transfer paper is an urgent problem.Kinds of the digital inkjet water transfer paper samples were collected, and theirstructures were analyzed by FT-IR and XRD. The analytic results provide referenceand standards for further researching. At the same time, transfer film and ink absorbinglayer was prepared, and their performances were detected and analyzed in the lab.The results show that:(1) The target sample was a four-layer structure of the digital inkjet water transferpaper which comprises the base paper, water-soluble layer, the transfer film and the inkabsorbing layer. The base paper was the supporting layer of the image. It had a highdimensional stability and absorbency. The water soluble layer separated from the basepaper was also the adhesive between the transfer layer and print object. The transferlayer was a carrier of image, a protective film of the image after transfer, too. Inkjetprinting layer was mainly used to print image. It sandwiched between transfer film anda new film formed by protective oil. Because the both sides of this structure arewaterproof, the image has been effectively protected.(2) The following results came from the target sample A. Transfer film was acertain of polyurethane with basis weight of17.5g/m~2. The water-soluble layerconsists of wheat starch and polyvinyl alcohol, and its basis weight is20g/m~2. The inkabsorbing layer was a wetting-expansion type ink-receiving layer, and it basis weight isabout20g/m~2. Pigments used are nano-silica and nano-alumina with the ratio of10:90.The main component of the adhesive was partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol.(3) The transfer film is made of Water-based polyurethane emulsion. Because ofits higher transparency, higher elasticity and good anti-yellowing performance, it canmeet strict requirements of the digital inkjet water film transfer paper. Layered process could reduce side reactions and bubble inside the layer, improve the drying efficiencyand shorten the drying time. The basis weight of transfer film was18g/m~2, and aoptimized drying temperature was105℃.(4) This research had studied the ink absorption mechanism and differencesbetween wetting-expansion type and pore coating type. Some factors are discussed, including total solids concentration, the type of adhesive, the ratio of pigment andadhesive, and the influence of additives. A large proportion of polyvinyl alcohol is thekey factors of the coating performance. Silica could improve the print quality to someextents, however, its overuse would increase the paint viscosity, and decrease thetransparency of film. Partial instead of silica, Alumina could get lower viscosity ofpaintings, lower costs, but have adverse effects to transparency. Fixing agent couldpromote the ink absorption, but only limited effects. The optimum conditions of preparing ink absorbing layer: total solidsconcentration was15%, used adhesive was1788PVA with the ratio of10:90betweenpigment and adhesive, and the ratio between silica and alumina was80:20.One quality evaluation system was designed for ink-jet paper. The samplesprepared in the lab had been test by this system. The results show this testing method isrelatively quick and accuracy. |
