At present, the flame-retardant fiber which is flame retardant durable and gives high performance, multi-functional features has become a focal competition point in the international textile market.Developed countries have invested heavily in human development and high-performance fiber and products, the first to occupy the market of such products.Polyisophthaloyl metaphenylene diamine fibre has excellent high temperature performance and flame retardant, good spinnability and dimensional stability, good mechanical properties,Study on polyisophthaloyl metaphenylene diamine fibre has become a hot spot of the textile industry.Currently the technology is relatively mature and the most widely used flame-retardant fiber. It takes the second on special fiber consumption ranking. At first, bis (4-aminophenoxy) phenyl phosphine oxide (BAPP) were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and NMR to characterize its structure. Its synthesis and purification routes have been studied, discussed the reaction temperature, reaction time and other factors on the production rate. Under optimum conditions and purification, BAPP yield of56.6%.Series of the novel polymers were prepared by low-temperature solution polycondensation with BAPP as the third monomer, m-phenylenediamine (MPD) and m-phthaloyl chloride (IPC) in dimethylacetylamide (DMAc).The main factors which effect on the polymerization reactions, such as molar ratio of monomers, the initial reaction temperature, and monomer concentration and so on were investigated and obtained the optimal conditions and high molecular weight polymers. Inherent viscosities of the phosphorus-containing polyamides ranged between1.19and1.33dL/g. The structure of the co-polymers was characterized by FT-IR, NMR, and the thermal properties by DSC. The polymers of water absorption, electrical and mechanical properties were studied. Especially, the dissolubility and flame retardance of the phosphorus-containing polyamides, coagulability and stability performance of the solution of phosphorus-containing polyamides were studied. A large increase in LOI value was observed by adding phosphorus-containing monomer to PMIA, which could obtain better fire resistance. For all different kinds of coagulants, the coagulation value of polymers reduced with increasing of phosphorus-containing monomer, and the value reduced with increasing phosphorus-containing monomer. The stability test indicated that stability of polymers in sulfuric acid was not influenced by the incoporation of phosphorus-containing monomer. By adding phosphorus-containing monomer, the ultraviolet radiation resistance of polyisophthaloyl metaphenylene diamine fibre has been significantly enhanced.
