The sucker rod is the important part in the oil exploration, and the heat treatment is animportant part of the production of the sucker rod, but the traditional flame furnaces and electricresistance furnace was could not meet the needs of production. So the heating thermostaticallycontrolled become the focus of many studies.The paper listed the various shortcomings of the flame furnace and the resistance furnace,and analysis and designs the main circuit of the medium frequency induction heating power, andcalculating the induction coil of the induction furnace. With the Relationship of the power supplypower and the heating temperature by induction heating, We analysis the relationship of theheated workpiece, and the output voltage, built up a mathematical model of the sucker rodheating process, calculated the PID controller parameters by optimizing PID criteria, designed asucker rod heat treatment automatic control system with Siemens PLC at last. The system keepsa constant temperature from continuous adjusting the output power to adapt to the changesbrought about by the process parameter values of the workpiece heating, eventually achieve aclosed-loop control.The medium frequency induction heating control system has been put into operation. Theresults show that the system runs more stable, reliable and the ability to adapt of the change ofthe parameters. It has largely improved the accuracy of the heat treatment and it have great vlueto spread up.
