This paper pointed out that a new welding method which uses continuous high-currentwelding under the influence of an external magnetic field to achieve a rotating jettransition and illustrated the extent of stability constrained by the magnetic field when theliquid beam flow transitedby the form of a rotating jet to verify the stability of themagnetic field, which enables enhancement of the stability of the liquid beamflow. Itillustrated the force and state of motion of theliquid beamflow under the influence ofapplied magnetic field. And it verifiedthatthe introduce of applied magnetic field in thewelding process allows the changes ofthe force and state of motion of the liquidbeamflow. Thus, the liquidbeam flows from clutter, unstable state into a regular, stable state, which greatly broadensthe scope of theusable parameters rangeof the continuoushigh-current welding.ANSYS was used to simulate the distribution of the magnetic field under differentcircumstances. Many of the parameters affecting the distribution of the magnetic fieldwasanalyzed, wherein the parameters mainly includes the shape and location of theexcitation coil, the excitation current, the welding materials, form of the groove, etc. Thisgives a clear direction on how to select the external magnetic field direction for weldingunder different conditions.More welding tests were designed to verify that the transition process of the rotatingjetwas affected bythe applied magnetic field. The wire speed was45m/min.A stable, welltransition constraint of the transition processwas obtained, when the composition of theshielding gas, CO2, accounted for1/5with Araccounted for4/5, and thus theproductivity is improved significantly. A new MAG welding methodwas developed. Thismethod selects high-current, and is without the protection ofhelium, moreover, investmentis small but with high efficiency.
