As development of automotive textiles and the pursuit of green non-toxic textiles, moreand more people preferred the cellulosic automobile decorative textiles. But this material caneasily burn. If car fire, its existence will increase the extent of fire, so that countries orindividuals suffer huge losses. Therefore, flame retardant finishing of cellulosic automobiledecorative textiles will be a serious problem.This article introduced the history and the progress of cellulosic fabric flame retardantfinishing. The high molecular weight of Ammonium Polyphosphate was chosen andexperiments were done to cellulosic fabrics. Inspected the type of adhesive, the concentrationof adhesive and APP on the effects of flame-retardant, and discussed the synergy of Al(OH)3,Mg(OH)2, ZnO, Na2B4O7and MEL for APP. Used PEPA flame retardant which wassynthesized by pentaerythritol and triphenyl phosphite by way of transesterification to processcellulosic fabrics. Discussed the reaction temperature and time on the effects of the yield ofproduct and flame-retardant. Characterized the macromolecular components and reactionmechanism of PEPA. In order to improve washable performance, TDI was used to composePEPA/TDI and PEPA/TDI/MEL flame-retardant system, obtained the optimum process ofPEPA/TDI flame-retardant system by means of orthogonal experiment and regression analysis.In addition, serviceability and the formaldehyde content were also analyzed.Results show that AL(OH)3and Na2B4O7had a certain synergy to APP. Flame-retardantproperties of cellulose fabrics could achieve the standard B1of GB17591-1998in optimumconditions of APP and PEPA. The flame retardant finishing of APP had the advantage of lowprices and non-formaldehyde, but poor washable performance. And PEPA/TDIflame-retardant system had no formaldehyde. Fabrics were non-toxic and tasteless afterfinishing, the finishing process was environmental safety and operation was easy, so they hadgood application prospects in the field of decorative automotive.
