Based on theory of life cycle assessment, methods and framework were used in printingink field, include production stage and using stage. Constructing life cycle assessment modelof printing ink, is applied to production process and printing process, and use the softwareJEMAI-LCA Pro EN and its database to analyze the data in which the actual productionprocess and printing process. Solvent ink and UV ink on the comparative analysis. Based onthis, it further proposes new environment-friendly edible ink, and the edible ink on theexperimental study of printing properties, include density, firm degree and glossiness.Printing ink production stage and using stage of life cycle assessment results show thatin the production stage,1ton of offset printing ink environmental impact characterizationresult is6.58×10~7, and in the using stage, environmental impact characterization result is3.18×10~5, the environmental impact of printing ink mainly appear in ink production stage.The life cycle assessment results of solvent ink and UV ink showed that, the value of1kg solvent ink environmental impact after the weighted for: global warming4.32,acidification1.68, eutrophication1.46, the value of1kg UV ink environmental impact afterthe weighted for: global warming1.16, acidification0.58, eutrophication0.48, solvent inkenvironmental impact than UV ink, and global warming is the main environmental impact.Do a formula design for edible ink, m (distilled water): m (sugar): m (edible pigment):m (xanthan gum): m (soybean)=20:35.8:1:0.2:43, and printing properties was analysed,include density, firmness and glossiness. Experimental data shows, the lowest firmness is87.8%, it accord with the national standards of GB7706-87, can be used in the paperpackaging printing which food, medicine and other products direct contact with it.The innovative of this paper is the life cycle assessment methods and framework used inprinting ink, establish suitable for printing ink life cycle evaluation model, and applied forprinting ink production stage and using stage. The quantitative analysis of the environmentalimpact, get the main stage and environmental impact type of the printing ink. According tothe printing ink life cycle assessment of research, the analysis of the ecological design, edible ink was proposed as environmental protection.
