Bulk polymerization, solution polymerization and suspension polymerization in three kinds of radical polymerization at the same time increase the reaction rate will lead to a decline in the molecular weight, and heat problems. The e-mulsion polymerization with its special mechanism of reaction, while achieving a high rate and high molecular weight, and the aqueous phase of the reaction exotherm rapid dissipation characteristics, which is widely used in synthetic res-in and synthetic rubber, etc.. Conventional industrial emulsion polymerization c ycle is longer (2-6h), preliminary studies of our research group indicate that th-e initiator consisting of persulfate-silver ammine complex system enables emul-sion polymerization within a short time to reach high conversion rate, the react-ion cyclecan be shortened to less than1h.This paper studied the kinetics of emulsion polymerization of styrene, met-hyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of monomer initiated by potassium persulfate-silver ammonia system. Kinetics studies show thatrcom-pared with potassium persulfate initiator, potassium persulfate-silver ammonia in-itiating system can obviously increase the reaction rate of emulsion polymerize-tion of styrene, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of monomer. The reaction rate of emulsion polymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of monomer initiated by potassium persulfate-silver ammonia system quickly reach the maximum at the beginning, there is no constant rate period; The molecular weight of polymer generated by rapid emulsion polymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of monomer initiated by potassium persul-fate-silver ammonia system is less than the conventional emulsion polymerizati-on;The partical size of polymer generated by rapid emulsion polymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of mon-omer initiated by potassium persulfate-silver ammonia system is less than the conventional emulsion polymerization. This paper also compares the effects of potassium persulfate-silver ammoni-a system to emulsion polymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate in three different types of monomer,we found that potassium persulfate-silver ammonia system had the greatest influence on the emulsion polymerizati -on of vinyl acetate and methyl methacrylate, styrene is minimal. The results show that the potassium persulfate-silver ammonia initiating sy-stem is oxidation-reduction initiating system.
