In pace with the development of the foundry industry in our country, more and more attention is paid on the design and fabrication of the casting die. From the1980’s, the market competition promotes strongly the society’s advancement and the technical development. On the other hand, the demand of customer on development cycle, quality and cost is increasingly high. So the requirement on mold manufacturing is of "short duration, high quality, and low price". While the booming in automation industry brings huge opportunities to mold industry. The higher requirements are posed on technical level and production capability. The auto firms release new product urgently to occupy more market share, so the development cycle are getting shorter. Moreover, the product structure becomes more complicated to meet the demand of new features and integration. Anyway, the casting mold industry is faced with not only larger orders but also higher technical requirement and shorter duration.The mold industry is a special basic industry with various products which are usually single or small patch. The design time is regularly long because every design of a mold is a new exploring process with different shaping output and technical requirement. The design structure and manufacturing process is different from each other and there is no trial process. Compared with general mold, the casting mold has its own character that one casting product always needs several molds to work cooperatively, thus increasing the difficulty of collaborative design, task scheduling and project management.The paper is aimed at solving the problems of how to schedule tasks practically, how to use the resources reasonably, and how to assure the tasks to be achieved in time. First, it made the project plan for the overall project, design plan for the mold design and production plan for the production of every mold part. Then, the network diagrams were drawn according to the production plan on the basis of the network planning techniques and the theory of constraint (TOC). It found the critical paths and decided which to be the bottle neck resources. Finally, the measures were taken to optimize the neck resources and accomplish the project on time which can meet the delivery data.
