Due to some of the features of the nano-particle, it presents the different characteristicswhich the conventional materials don’t have. Nano-particles can be used widely.Nano-diamond particles reinforced Ni-P composites coating is one of its applications. It hasa realistic significance to study on nano-diamond particles reinforced Ni-P compositescoating. The Ni-P and Ni-P-nano-diamond composite coatings on copper were preparedby electroless. We used EDS, SEM, XRD and other means of detection to analyze plating’ssurface morphology, micro-hardness, abrasion resistance, bond strength and so on. And thenwe get the best process parameters.Results show that:(1) the salt concentration, pH value and temperature have differentinfluence to the hardness and deposition rate of Ni-P coating. Among them pH value effectsmost on the hardness, and the main salt concentration is less affected. The temperature effectsmost on the deposition rate. We choose the plating parameters: temperature85℃, pH=5,the main salt concentration25g/L.(2)Heat treatment has a greater influence on the coating performance especially for theinfluence of hardness. After400℃/1h heat treatment, plating the structural transformationof deposit from non-crystalline to crystalline, grain refinement, surface morphology is the best,the hardness value of coating reaches987HV.(3)The best surface morphology of coating was prepared when the concentration ofnano-diamond is12g/L and the stirring speed is200r/min.The deposition rate reaches26μm/h, and the hardness of coating can reach1138HV by heat-treatment.(4) Compared with Ni–P the nano-diamond of composite coating makes the depositionrate, hardness, friction properties, corrosion resistance and so on has increased.
