Confronting the severe agricultural water situation and the deteriorating ecologicalenvironment in China, the engineering construction of irrigated areas is playing a more and moreimportant role in developing agriculture as well as providing the growing population with food andother sideline products. Besides, ecological environmental protection has also become a vital task inthe process of building the agricultural irrigated area, especially the area as agricultural infrastructures.This thesis mainly includes the following targets. Firstly, it analyses the geographical location,engineering composition as well as the current environmental situation and the development and use ofwater resources in irrigated areas in project district of Piaoshuiyan Reservoir irrigated area. Secondly,through identifying the environmental impact, it lists out the environmental impact factors which maybe affected by the project. Then by the method of combining quantitative analysis and qualitativeanalysis, it makes an assessment on the environmental impact which the construction of irrigated areasmakes to water, atmosphere, noise, soil and ecology environment. Moreover, it concludes thecorresponding environmental protection measures and it also points out problems needed to be paidattention in environmental assessment. Finally, from what have analyzed above, it comes to theconclusion: the natural environment in the study region is in the state of coordination on the whole.Reservoir engineering construction, the foundation of regional ecological agricultural construction, hasan extraordinary function to promote and gradually improve the quality of regional ecologicalenvironment. It also has a positive role in the use of water resources in irrigated areas, the protection ofecological environment, the improvement of regional ecological environment and the sustainabledevelopment of social economy. The main adverse environmental impact is the impact of theecological environment and soil and water loss in irrigated areas. These adverse effect can be reducedand improved by taking the corresponding environmental protection as well as water and soil conservation measures.
