With the rapid development of science and technology, resin composite materials have beenreceived more and more attention. Besides, the carbon fiber not only has the basic characteristicsof the carbon, but also has good electrical and thermal conductivity properties. The compositematerials produced by carbon fiber can substitute for metal materials in corrosive environment, and meet the requirements of the electrical and thermal conductivity, but also can satisfy someother special application requirements. Wherefore, studies on electrical and thermal conductivityof carbon fiber reinforced composite gradually have become one of the main research directionsof the polymer matrix composites. In this paper, the graphite carbon fiber reinforced ABS resin composite materials as theobject of study, the changes in room temperature electrical and thermal conductivity and impactresistance of carbon fiber/ABS resin composite were investigated in conditions of differentinfluencing factors. Which focuses on the study of the electrical and thermal conductivity of thecomposites, the influencing factors were tested and analyzed dentally, besides the morphology ofthe composites were characterized by detecting means of SEM PLM XRD and other means ofdetection. The main content and conclusions are as follows:1. The electrical and thermal conductivity of the carbon fiber/ABS resin composites wereexcellent which prepared by a hot press molding method, wherein the impact resistance ofcomposites which filled with mesophase pitch-based short carbon fiber is slightly reduced.2. For the composites filled with graphitized mesophase pitch-based short carbon fiber, theresistivity of the composites perpendicular to the hot pressing direction decreases with the raisingof content and length of the short carbon fibers. Besides, the resistivity decreases rapidly whenthe content of carbon fiber reaches conductive percolation threshold. For the composites thatprepared with different carbon fiber length different process, when the content of carbon fiber isround about11wt.%, the composites filled with3mm and6mm short carbon fiber achievepercolation threshold firstly, continue to increase the content of carbon fiber, the resistivity stillkeep on reducing, whereas the trend of decreasing tends to be slower. What s more, thedistribution state of short carbon fibers in the resin matrix has a big influence on the resistivity ofcomposites. When the content of short carbon fiber reaches about33wt.%, the resistivity ofcomposites filled with6mm short carbon fiber reduces to7.68×10-5.3. For the composites filled with graphitized mesophase pitch-based short carbon fiber, thethermal conductivity increases with the raising of content and length of the short carbon fibers. When the content of carbon fiber reaches around29wt.%, the thermal conductivity of thecomposites perpendicular to the hot pressing direction which filled with3mm short carbon fiber arrives at23.34W/m·K; when the content of carbon fiber reaches about33wt.%, the thermalconductivity of the composites parallel to the hot pressing direction arrives at0.78W/m·K.Nevertheless the distribution state of short carbon fibers in the resin matrix has a big influenceon the thermal conductivity of composites.4. For the composites filled with graphitized isotropic pitch-based short carbon fiber, theresistivity of composites perpendicular to the hot pressing direction decreases with the raising ofcontent length and graphite temperature of the short carbon fibers. Besides, the resistivitydecreases rapidly when the content of carbon fiber reaches conductive percolation threshold. Forthe composites that prepared with different carbon fiber length graphite temperature, when thecontent of carbon fiber is round about9wt.%, the composites filled with3mm and6mm shortcarbon fiber achieve a minimum percolation threshold, continue to increase the content of carbonfiber, the resistivity still continue to reduce, whereas the trend of decreasing tends to be slower. When the content of short carbon fiber reaches about31wt.%, the resistivity of composites filledwith6mm short carbon fiber reduces to3.85×10-4.
