Stone coal is an important resource of vanadium, and the reserves of stone coal is reach inour country. The extract process of vanadium from stone caol is leaching without ore dressing atpresent. Due to the low content of vanadium, it creats largly handling capacity, highly costs ofleaching and serious pollution of the environment in extract processs. If the vanadium in stonecoal can be pre-enrichmented by ore dressing, it can reduce the costs of leaching and theenvironmental pollution. In this paper, the characteristics of stone coal were investingated, andthe pre-enrichment processes of vanadium in stone coal were studied.The studies on the properties of stone coal have shown that, there are no independentvanadium minerals in stone coal, the vanadium exist in mica and carbonaceous material in theform of isomorpHous and ion adsorption. The micrography results indicated that the particle sizeof main vanadium-bearing mineral such as mica, carbonaceous material and quartz which is thegangue minerals are very fine. The minerals closely set promiscuous distribution, which lead tothe difficult of mineral fragmentation and ore dressing.The enrichment of the vanadium in stone coal by the process of hydrocyclone separation,direct flotation, roasting-flotation, carbon floation-mica floation has researched in this paper. Theresults indicated that adapting a open-circuit flotation flow sheet including one stage of roughingand one stage of scavenging with a grinding fineness of-0.074mm range as around80%, underalkaline solution which pH value is10, using the lead nitrate as the acvator of mica and theinhibitor of quartz, sodium oleate as the collecter of mica, a vanadium concentrate with the V2O5grade of1.093%and the recovery ratio of64.92%was prepared using the decarburized stonecoal as raw material.Adding sodium hexametaphosphate can inhibits calcite in flotation, eventually getvanadium concentrate content of1.231%V2O5recovery rate was64.67%, The content of CaOwas reduced from6.22%to4.36%, enhanced the content of V2O5, reduced the content of themajor acid consumption material of iron minerals and calcite in leaching process, also decreasedthe handling capacity in smelting process of vanadium, saved the cost of the leaching.
