With the progress of material science and technology, the rising requirements for steelquality in basic construction industry, technology of continuous casting and automaticfree-opening rate of the requirements more and more is also high. Drainage sand directlyinfluences the free-opening rate, is pouring ladle to protect one of the key factors thatinfluence the quality of steel. Countries increasingly strengthen the management ofenvironmental quality, more stringent requirements for the steel mill pollution issues,prompted steel mills gradually reduced, replaced by serious pollution energy consumptionproducts, the higher demands of the material and the performance of the ladle drainage sand.In this paper, the theory chromium ladle drainage sand analysis, combined with the thehigh chrome drainage actual application of low chromium and chromium steel packagedrainage sand, the study results show that:(1) analysis of the impact of pipeline steel casting ladle opening rate of the operatingcondition and the quality of drainage sand two factors.In the case of the unchanged operatingcondition,use high quality drainage sand,the pipeline steel ladle free-opening rate rise up to95%. If combining with controlling pipeline steel alloy addition, optimizing refining the way,controlling operating conditions, guaranteeing lower steel temperature measures. expectingpipeline steel ladle free-opening rate increase to99%.(2) chromium ore added drainage sand can effectively improve fluidity, resistance tomolten steel permeability and reduce its apparent porosity, for the molten steel pass set time inabout60~90min steels, the use of low chromium drainage sand can guarantee goodfree-opening rate, site ladle free-opening rate in more than98%, so that the total cost pertonne of steel costs and steelmaking, and improve the competitiveness of the steel mills.(3) Packages chrome-free ladle drainage sand adding synthetic ceramic ball, additionamount of18%, effectively improve liquidity, packages drainage sand sample has goodcomprehensive performance.(4) The grain size of larger influence on packages chrome-free ladle drainage sand line.Through the grain size of research found that the value of n in0.5, packages chrome-free ladledrainage sand sample has good comprehensive performance, resistance to molten steelpenetration performance is strong, easy to use when drainage sand automatic free-opening.
