Greatly improved living standards, promote the rapid development of tourism, but alsolead to the development of outdoor textiles. So the demand of outdoor camping tent isgrowing. In addition, military defense and army tents are an important class of textileproducts. Disaster relief tents are important, which are shelters of victims. In cold regions, thesingle fabric tent is poor in heat insulation, because the heat inside the tent is easily spread tothe outer surface of the tent, increasing energy consumption. In a word, the thermal insulationproperties of the tents need to be improved.In this paper a tent of good insulation performance has been designed by lining aadiabatic film in it. Aerogel materials are known as one kind of the best insulation materialswith many characteristics such as lightweight, high surface area, low thermal conductivityand low acoustic. Especially the polyimide aerogel with low thermal conductivity and goodflexibility is suitable as a heat insulating layer of tent fabric. Polyimide sol were preparedbased on the ODA,ODPA and crosslinker TAB in NMP, polyimide aerogels were obtainedvia supercritical CO2drying. Study on the effects of sol formula and density,shrinkage,porous structure, BET surface area, tensile strength, and thermal conductivities of polyimideaerogels. Obtained by experiment,10%sol concentration polyimide aerogels had a lowerthermal conductivity and good mechanical properties.In this paper, two different structural insulated tent fabric are prepared. The one is threecomposite strucural tent fabric. Firstly the insulation material is sewn between two pieces ofnylon fabric which is used as inner lining and polyester fabric is bonded to both sides of thefronter with polyurethane adhesive. The other is bilayer composite strucural tent fabric inwhich the insulation material is between two pieces of polyester fabric. By the testes such asinsulation performance, moisture permeability and peel strength, we find that the three-tiercomposite strucural tent fabric is better than the bilayer composite strucural tent fabric atinsulation performance, but not as good at water vapor permeability. Based on the abovefindings, the tent fabric have excellent thermal insulation.Innovation of this paper is as follows. First of all, not only a polyimide aerogel has beensuccessfully prepared but also the influence of the preparation process for airgel insulationproperties has been studied. Then two kinds of structural insulated tent fabric are preparedwith the use of polyimide film. Finally the effects of the structural design of the tentinsulation and water vapor permeability has been researched.
