The narrow welding seam mainly used in the field of laser welding. It is characterized bynarrow, high welding quality requirements, and demanding welding speed characteristics.Meeting these requirements at the same time, the good quality of the welding is an importantresearch topic. Among them, how to ensure that the welding robot to accurately identify thenarrow weld driven welding torch automatic precise alignment weld has become one of the keytechnologies of the welding field. However, at present, the main use of expensive electrical andmechanical positioning system is to ensure the industry. However, this method is not only costlybut also poor adaptability. It can’t apply to the complex shape of the weld and various weldingenvironment and lack of robustness. It is unable to meet intelligent welding requirements.Therefore, the machine vision technology is put into narrow seam continuous welding sheetlaser welding production line. According to the characteristics of the imaging characteristics ofthe narrow weld and the complex system, a narrow weld visual detection and tracking methodbased on structured light combined with natural light photography is bring out. The design of thevisual system include a light source, the lens, the camera, the computer and a display unit, etc..This paper gives out the visual characteristics of the laser welding narrow weld extractionmethod. Designed a image morphological weld characteristics extraction method using OpenCVlibrary. Combined with traditional filtering, skeleton extraction method, we can get the featurepoints and feature line of the narrow weld.Using camera imaging principle and characteristics of the triangle, designed an improvedmethod of measuring, which can be easy to get the horizontal direction and the vertical directionof the deviation in the welding process. We design a system of the image-based visual servocontrol system, in order to achieve a narrow weld real-time correction control.Finally, based on the electrically driven gantry robot architecture platform, the paper givesout the design of the system’s precision motion control algorithm and correspondingconfirmatory test has been done. The experimental results show that this article and morerecognition and calibration methods proposed simple operation, high reliability and higherstability to meet the requirements of industrial production.
