In the metal materials mechanical processing,cutting processing is the most basic theprecision processing method.The performance of the cutter materials has a decisiveinfluence on the cutting technical parameter.In the modern cutting processing,ceramiccutter materials play an important role in the hard cutting fields because of their high heatresistance,abrasion resistance and chemical stability.ZrO2ceramic is the most suitable multi-functional cutter material in the world becauseof its features of high hardness,high strength,high toughness,wear resistance,acid andalkali corrosion resistance,oxidation resistance,antistatic,excellent high temperatureperformance and that burnish of the cutter likes a jade.There are most chief cutterproducts:ceramic cutter,table-knife,scissors,soldier’s sword,medical-knife. PSZ(PartiallyStabilized Zirconia/PSZ) ceramic is the main research object in this paper,which both letthe target material meet various requirements of the application environments of theceramic cutters and let the ceramic cutters have some color.Practical and beautiful ceramiccutters are the aim of this research.The types and addition amount of the stabilizer of PSZ ceramic was studied in thispaper.The results showed3mol%Y2O3is the most suitable for this experiment conditions,and the best sintering temperature of3YPSZ is1550℃,the best sintering temperature of11CePSZ is1600℃.The process of cold isostatic pressing after dry pressing is better thandry pressing only.And the best flexural strength,vickers hardness,send density respectivelyhad327.8MPa,10.8GPa,98.4%.This paper then studied the black3YPSZ-Co3O4ceramic with physical mixing methodand dyeing liquid soaking method. The results showed the dyeing liquid soaking method letmaterial produce more macroscopic and microscopic flaws than the physical mixingmethod,so its performance is worse than the later.It showed that when the addition amount of Co3O4was0.5wt%and sintered2h at1550℃with the physical mixing method,the bestflexural strength,vickers hardness,send density of3YPSZ-Co3O4ceramic respectively had355.3MPa,11.2GPa,98.6%.Because the effects of adding Co3O4to the3YPSZ is not obvious,so this paper thenstudied the3YPSZ-A12O3multiphase ceramic.The study introduced relatively high elasticmodulus and low thermal expansion coefficient A12O3dipersoid in order to get highertoughness and strength of3YPSZ. It showed that when the addition amount of A12O3was25wt%and sintered2h at1600℃,the best flexural strength,vickers hardness,fracturetoughness,send density of3YPSZ-A12O3ceramic respectively had582.4MPa,15.4GPa,6.6MPa.m1/2、98.7%.This paper then studied the blue3YPSZ/A12O3-Co3O4multiphase ceramic withphysical mixing method and none-homogeneous phase sediment method.It showed that thepowder particles get smaller with the none-homogeneous phase sediment method,but morereunion were formed,and more agglomerate were formed after heat treatment,whichreduced the send density and the organization uniformity of the material,so its performanceis worse than the physical mixing method. And it showed that when the addition amount ofCo3O4was0.25wt%and sintered2h at1550℃,the best flexural strength,vickers hardness,fracture toughness, send density of3YPSZ/A12O3-Co3O4ceramic respectively had623.5MPa,16.9GPa,7.2MPa.m1/2、99.1%.This paper respectively analysised the experiment results from macro properties andmicro characterization these two aspects and made a summary and prospect to the wholeexperiment.
