Due to the unique chemical and physical properties, silver nanoparticles havewidely potential applications in medicine, electronics, optics, catalysis, biomedicine,electronic pastes, etc. The research shows that the peculiar and excellent properties ofsilver nanoparticles are mainly determined by their shapes and sizes. Therefore,morphology-controlled synthesis of silver nanoparticles has been widely concerned. Inthis paper, size and morphology-controlled silver nanoparticles synthesis in microwaveusing PVP as reducing agent were researched. The solution and product arecharacterized and analyzed by Ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer(UV-vis), Fouriertransform infrared spectrometer(FT-IR), X-ray diffraction(XRD), X-ray photoelectronspectrometer(XPS), Scanning election microscopy(SEM), Energy DispersiveSpectrometer(EDS), etc.The research shows that the small size and good dispersion spherical shape silvernanoparticles were synthesized in AgNO3and PVP mixed solutions by microwaveirradiation without using any reducing agent. The optimum synthesis conditions were9min,80mM PVP,0.01mol/L AgNO3,800w, under this conditions,50nm averageparticle size and good dispersion spherical shape silver nanoparticles were prepared.The experiment results prove that the amino N in PVP coordinated with Ag+and formedthe PVP/Ag+complex ion, the coordination structure became activated in highfrequency electric field effect of microwave, and the Ag+was reduced by achieving anelectron from the N atom in the PVP/Ag+complex.The flower-like silver nanoparticles were synthesized by water-bath method using polyvinyl-pyrrolidone (PVP) as reducing agent. The research shows that the spherical,flake-like, slice and flower-like silver nanoparticles were prepared by increase thetemperature from60℃to95℃.500nm~800nm wide,200nm~450nm length,20nm~60nm wide of the petal and fine dispersion flower-like silver nanoparticles wereprepared under the conditions that95℃,24h, PVP/AgNO3=5:1, and400r/min.
