Iron-making is the core production line of steel industry, which has perfect ProcessControl System(PCS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). There is great gap betweenPCS and ERP in information communication and management control. The background ofthis paper is an information construction project of iron-making in a large steel company(hereinafter called Company X). The problem needs to be solved urgently in the project is tobreak the information gap between enterprises and achieve exchange of information betweenERP and PCS timely and accurately. Thus the various information software system can beintegrated and the manufacturing resources can be fully used.Firstly, according to the questions above and the actual situation of the iron-makingproduction in Company X, this paper studies the question of informationconstruction iniron-making; and then, this paper does some related research of Manufacturing ExecutionSystem(MES), transaction processing middleware, and WPF and raises the solution ofIron-Making Manufacturing Execution System(IRMES). This paper also elaboratesthearchitecture design of IRMES and discusses the design and Implementation of the basicsupportplatform of IRMES. The platform is mainly made up of the WPF-based applicationinterface framework, TUXEDO-based information communication middleware and TPC/IPSocket-based external communication middleware. On this basis, this paper sets the molteniron scheduling module and the original fuel planning module as an example andelaboratesthe design and implementation of thecore application modules of IRMES. Finally,this paper introduces thetest and practical application of IRMES system.The applicationshows IRMES is feasible and effective.Compared with other similar systems, this research of this paper has the followingcharacteristics:1. It analyses the business processes of iron-making and ERP and PCS. It puts forwardthe solution of IRMES, where IRMES is in the middle of ERP and PCS, and hasinformation interaction with many peripheral systems. IRMES is divided into eightapplication module: production plan, material plan, charge management, qualitymanagement, material management, production management, molten ironmanagement and molten iron scheduling. 2. The application interface of IRMES requires uniform norms and strong ability tocustomize. WPF-based application interface framework, in order to reduce thecoupling of the application interface and business logiceffectively, so that the systemhas good scalability and portability;3. The front client and back data layer of IRMES have frequent and large amount ofinteraction. This paper achieves the TUXEDOmiddleware-based informationcommunication components, which providesgeneral methods for the communicationof client and data layer and achieves efficient interaction of the internal informationsystem.4. As to the problem of the communication problems of IRMESand other externalsystems, this paper designs and achievesthe TPC/IP Socket-based externalcommunications middleware. In order to shield the underlying complexity of thecommunication problems, it just concerns about the needs of business andachievesthe rapid development requirements.5. On the basis of application interface framework, information communicationcomponents and the external communication middleware, it elaborates the design andimplementation of core function module of IRMES system, with the example ofmolten iron scheduling module and original fuel planning module.
