Polycarbonate (PC) is widely used in automotive, aerospace and other fieldsbecause of its high light transmittance, small proportion, impact resistance and otherexcellent features. In the late1920s, auto glass has already started to use thismaterial and there are many cars use PC auto glass currently, which not onlyimproves the car’s safety performance, but also greatly reduces the weight of the car.Nowadays, the study of PC auto glass molding technology abroad develop morerapidly than domestic, compared with the injection molding technology,injection-compression molding technology can produce products with lower internalstress, which is more suitable for the production of large-size glass. In order to make our country to grasp the underlying PC auto glass productiontechnology as soon as possible, to promote the application of PC auto glass in thecountry, this paper studies the injection-compression molding technology of PC autoglass, which can provide a reference for the future production of PC auto glass.Firstly, this paper established an injection-compression finite element model ofPC auto glass, designed four gating and four cooling systems using the Moldflowsoftware, choosed the best option by comparing and analyzing, designed andmanufactured the mold according to the best gating and cooling systems and inaccordance with the mold design criteria, which prepared for injection-compressionmolding experiments.Secondly, PC auto glass injection-compression molding were simulated withorthogonal experimental design method, analyzed the melt temperature, injectiontime, cooling time, etc. nine process parameters on the influence of warpage, shrinkage and residual stress of PC auto glass injection compression molding, selected the optimal process parameters, and verified.Thirdly, experiment such as the injection-compression experiment, themeasurement experiments of warpage, shrinkage were made with molding, compared the measured results with simulation results, both fitted very ideal, provedthe accuracy of the established numerical simulation model, studied the influencerules of process parameters on product quality in detail. Finally, through the transmittance experiment and the tensile tests studied thetransparency and mechanical properties of the molding products.
