As the rapid development of the economy in our country, the scale ofproduction and application in precision investment casting is growing bigger. Inrecent years, the requirement in quality in parts used in areas get higher,"thinner,better, lighter" become the trend of development. These factors enhance theapplication of precision investment casting in casting of thin wall parts. And,among all the thin wall parts, development in Al alloy parts is especially fast.Al alloy thin wall investment casting was studied by focusing on design ofgating system, process plan and optimization of process parameters of an Al alloyfixing part.3D model was built, finite element analysis and simulation wasconducted to help design a better gating system, and the process parameters ofinvestment casting of Al alloy fixing part were optimized.First, a brief introduction of history and research situation of Al alloyprecision casting part and precision investment casting, especially thecharacteristics of precision investment casting. By using ProCAST software,forming process of Al alloy fixing part was studied. General way to build finiteelement model, simulation of precision investment casting and optimization ofprocess parameters were learned.Then, after deeply consider the structure characters of Al alloy fixing part,reason to defects such as xx formed during investment casting was analyzed. UsingProCAST to reshow and correct the casting process of original plan. The resultsshowed that by adding an ingate below necking of Al alloy fixing part, internalshrinkage cavity was reduced.Further, gating system optimized process parameters of Al alloy fixing partwere recalculated. Casting process was improved by combination of computersimulation technique and orthogonal method. A best process plan, which reducedthe trend of shrinkage cavity, was obtained after analyzing the influence of gatingtemperature, speed, and preheat temperature of shell on quality of Al alloy fixingpart formed by investment casting. General methods to process design of precisioninvestment casting were discussed to be guidance of precision investment castingprocess design of Al alloy thin wall part.
