From six aromatic ether monomers containing naphthalene moiety,4,4′-bis(1-naphthoxy)diphenyl sulfone (BNODPS),4,4′-di(2-naphthoxy)diphenyl sulfone(DNODPS),4,4′-di(1-naphthoxy)benzophenone (DNOBPN),4,4′-bis(2-naphthoxy)-benzophenone (BNOBPN),1,4-di(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (DPOBON),2,6-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (BPOBON), diphenyl ether (DPE) and tere-phthaloyl chloride (TPC) or isophthaloyl chloride (IPC), we synthesized six new typesof novel poly (aryl ether ketone) copolymers containing naphthalene moieties by theelectrophilic copolycondensation.1. A series of poly(ether ketone ketone)/poly(ether sulfone ether ketone ketone)containing1,4-naphthalene moieties (PEKK/1,4-N-PESEKK) copolymers wereprepared from4,4′-bis(1-naphthoxy)diphenyl sulfone (BNODPS), diphenyl ether(DPE) and terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) by the electrophilic copolycondensation. Thestructures and properties of the copolymers were investigated by FT-IR, DSC, TG,XRD etc. The results showed that the copolymers with5-25mol%BNODPS aresemicrystalline. The glass transition temperature of the copolymers increased with theincrease in BNODPS content, but the Tmvalues decreased. The copolymer with25mol%BNODPS had not only high Tgof188°C, but also a moderate Tmof335°C,which is suitable for melt processing.2. The structures and properties of the copolymers wereinvestigated by FT-IR, DSC, TG, XRD etc. The results showed that the copolymerswith5-30mol%DPOBON are semicrystalline. The glass transition temperature of thecopolymers increased with the increase in DPOBON content, but the Tmvaluesdecreased. The copolymer with30mol%DPOBON had not only high Tgof179°C,but also a moderate Tmof331°C, which is extremely suitable for melt processing.6. A series of poly(aryl ethe ketone) copolymers containing2,6-naphthalenemoieties were prepared from2,6-bis(4-phenoxybenzoyl)naphthalene (BPOBON),terephthaloyl chloride (TPC) and isophthaloyl chloride (IPC) by the electrophiliccopolycondensation. The structures and properties of the copolymers wereinvestigated by FT-IR, DSC, TG, XRD etc. The results showed that all the copolymersare semicrystalline. The glass transition temperature of the copolymers increased withthe increase in TPC content. The copolymer with10-50mol%TPC had not only highTgvalues of174-180°C, but also moderate Tmvalues of308-322°C, which isextremely suitable for melt processing.
