It is urgent to seek green materials to take place of traditional plastic because of its non-degradablity. Focus has shifted to how to meet the current demand for plastic products and reduce the heavy burden of the environment from how to expand the development of the plastics industry. Polylactic acid(PLA) is not only an environmental protection and degradable material, but also the most promisingly renewable material.In this paper, the degradable and renewable films based on PLA and organic acids bentonite were synthesized by solution intercalation method with PLA and organic acids bentonite. The mechanical properties of the degradable and renewable films were investigated by universal mechanical testing machine. The results showed that the degradable and renewable films based on PLA and Benzoate-Ca-bentonite had the best mechanical properties, then Lactate films, then Acrylate films and Acetate films. At room temperature, with15%acetone-chloroform solution as solvent, PLA and40%organic ingredients of Benzate-Ca-bentonite as raw material, PLA/2%Benzate-Ca-bentonite degradable and renewable films were prepared, which could make the tensile strength and elongation of the degradable and renewable films at break increased61%and54%than PLA films. The morphology of degradable and renewable films were characterized by SEM. Results showed that the Benzate-Ca-bentonite can be better dispersed in the matrix of PLA. Thermal properties and optical of the films were investigated by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), TGA and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer respectively. DSC analysis showed that the glass transition temperature of degradable and renewable films increased2.4℃. TGA showed that half-life temperature of thermal decomposition process of degradable and renewable films increased4.5℃. The results of optical showed the transparency was not affected by the addition of little Benzate-Ca-bentonite. The degradation properties of PLA/Benzate-Ca-bentonite degradable and renewable films were investigated. Results showed that the degradable and renewable films could be better degraded by adding Benzate-Ca-bentonite, and the more of the bentonite amount, the faster the films degraded. And Benzate-Ca-bentonite could make degradable and renewable films better degraded in lye than those in acid and aqueous solution.
