Magnetic core-shell nanostructures combine the merits of the magnetic core with other functional materials in order to bear dual or more functions. Such materials can be easily separated and recovered in practical applications to achieve recycling by the external magnet. Furthermore, these magnetic core-shell nanostructures have potential use in medicine, water treatment and so on.We have developed a facile and fast sonochemical route for preparing urchin-shaped Fe3O4@Bi2S3core-shell structures with numerous nanorods on the surface of the Fe3O4nanoparticles. Importantly, the urchin-shaped Fe3O4@Bi2S3core-shell structures possess high photocatalytic for the degradation RhB and can be effectively separated for reuse by simply using an applied magnetic field. Also, we have synthesized the flowerlike y-Fe2O3@NiO core-shell hierarchical nanostructures. Many irregular flakelike nanosheets packed on the surface of the magnetic cores. As expected, the y-Fe2O3@NiO core-shell hierarchical nanostructures can be easily separated and still maintain excellent adsorption performance.
