Research And Development On Easy-To-Open Tear Tape Of Corrugated Box

This paper researched and developed a novel tear tape, which was used to open the corrugated boxs more easily and quickly.This paper discussed the effects of different technical conditions on acrylic PSA performance. The results indicated that, half continual titrimetric method was used to synthesize acrylic PSA emulsion, when monomer ratio Butyl acrylate (BA):Ethyl acetate (EA):Vinyl acetate (VAC):Acrylic acid (AA) was85:11:6:6.5, quality ration of SDS and OP-10was1:2, the quality ratio of ammonium persulfate (APS) was0.6%, reaction temperature was controlled between80℃and85℃, mixture titration time was about1.5h to2h, the stirring speed of the electric mixer was about200r/min, acrylic PSA provided a better compressive characteristics. The solid content of PSA was between40%and45%, the viscosity was600±50MPa-s, the density is1.0198g/cm3and the peel strength was10.3N per25mm.Vary tape samples preparated with four kinds of fibers and three kinds of acrylic PSAs. The properties of tapes were tested, and the good properties tape was selected, that was acrylic fiber1tape (which was made of acrylic fiber1fiber and PSA-410PSA).Different comprehensive quantitative corrugated boards were used in this experiment. Adhering tear tape samples to the inner liner of these corrugated boards, then testing the tear property of the corrugated board above-mentioned, some conclusions were got, firstly, acrylic fiber1were used as backing materials, and proper number of filaments was1800-2700/cm, coating quantitative of acrylic PAS was150g/m2, when the width of tape was25mm, length of teap was25mm, the tensile strength of the tape was250KN, breaking elongation was14.92%, good performance tapes were prepared. The tear tape can cut the corrugated board (comprehensive quantitative was between570g/m2to1030g/m2) and realize the easy-to-open function to corrugated board. Second was that the changes of the quantitative of tape fibers had little effect on the tear property of the corrugated board, another was, with the comprehensive quantitative of corrugated board increased, tear strength was increased.Compared prepared tapes with Open-Sesame tape on property test of the tear tape corrugated board, Open-Sesame tape had a little better performance on tensile strength than prepared tapes, but was inferior to prepared tapes on tear property, and tensile properties of prepared tapes were satisfied to erogonomis requirements, so acrylic fiber1strip may be applied in corrugated carton industry instead of Open-Sesame tape.
