Seven coordination compounds based on flexible1,1’-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(3-carboxyl-2-oxidopyridinium), namely,[CoNa(L)1.5(C2H5OH)3](1),[Zn(L)0.5(OH)]·2H2O (2),[Co(L)0.5(OH)]·1.5H2O (3),[Co(L)(H2O)](4),[Zn(L)(H2O)](5),[Ni(L)(H2O)](6) and [Mn(L)(H2O)](7) have been synthesized, and their crystal structureshave been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound1exhibits a0Dmolecular structure. Compound2shows a1D “Z” chain structure. Neighboring chains arefurther linked by hydrogen-bonding interactions into a2D supramolecular layer. Compound3features a1D “Z” chain structure. The chains are further extended into a3D plywood-likestructure by the hydrogen-bonding interactions. Compounds4-7are isomorphous, and display2D (4462) networks. These compounds are further characterized by infrared spectra (IR),elemental analyses, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The luminescent properties of thecompounds were also investigated.
