| The activated carbon microporous filter materials has good adsorption properties, it can effectively remove particles, color, organic pollutants and heavy metals from the water, and is widely used in water purification, environmental, catalytic and other industrial fields. Conventional activated carbons filters are usually produced by sintering method, but they are not conducived to large-scale industrial production because of their long cycle time and high cost, so it’s one of today’s hot topics of how to achieve in continuous production effectivly with lower costs, and improve the adsorptive properties and utilization of the activated carbon filter materials.This article intended to introduce a new method for preparation of activated carbon filters-activated carbon single-screw extrusion method. Here is the main content of this paper:designed a special single-screw extruder for activated carbon filter shaping, and researched the activated carbon filter’s formulation, finally by experiments made excellent performance with high efficiency and low cost activated carbon filter. In addition, analyzing the activated carbon particle’s packing model and using FLUENT software to simulate permeation rate under different packing model. It concluded as follows:(1) A special single screw extruder experimental device for activated carbon filter is designed and set up, which have smaller compression ratio and length to diameter ratio, can be achieved activated carbon filter continuous extrusion molding with UHMWPE binder resin.(2) By comparing the different die length and temperature on activated carbon filter die extrusion and bonding effect, the results show that with the die length increases and temperature reduced, the filters are more difficult extrusion and the surface is smoother and denser, the filter’s pore structure and packing model are worse.(3) Research on activated carbon content and particle size, binder (HDPE, and UHMWPE) types on activated carbon filter extrusion and bonding effect, the results showed that the activated carbon content is higher, the particle size is smaller, the material is more difficult extrusion; and the binding effect is poorer, using UHMWPE binder resin forming pore structure of activated carbon filter is better than HDPE.(4) Study on molecular weight and content of UHMWPE-binder on the structure (average pore size, the pore size distribution, porosity) and properties (density, compression strength) of activated carbon filter, the results show that: with the increase of UHMWPE molecular weight, the active carbon filter’s average pore diameter and porosity increased, density and compressive strength decreased. With the increase of GUR4150binder resin’s content, the active carbon filter’s porosity, density and compressive strength decreased, the average pore diameter increased and then decreased.(5) The packing model of the activated carbon filter is proposed, under simple cubic, body-centered cubic and face-centered cubic packing models, simulation calculation and comparison of the filter’s aperture, porosity and penetration rate.(6) Experiments found that when uses J1die,60mesh,80%activated carbon and GUR4150binder resin, prepared activated carbon filters’structure and performance are the best. The filters’average pore size is44.34μm, porosity is56.31%, density is0.52g/cm3and compressive strength is0.89MPa, its structural and performance comparable with sintering carbon filter. |
