In recent years with the intensification of the energy crisis, the fuel ethanol shows a great advantage on reducing air pollution and gasoline consumption. As a renewable clean energy, the demand of the fuel ethanol is increasing rapidly. However, the domestic wheat production is sometimes surplus in some years and areas accompanied with some aged wheat problems including scab pollution caused by the wet weather and the difficulties of disposing the inedible aged wheat. Therefore, due to relative lower price than other grains, the aged wheat become a doable candidate for ethanol fementaiton. In this study, the strategy of the application of wheat in fuel ethanol production was discussed according to the current worldwide production process blended with wheat.Based on the three big lines and the current conditions without any major equipments adjustment, the clear liquid, with slag, uncooked fermentation in different production lines were conducted using corn as feedstock mixed with varying proportions of crushed whole wheat. In addition, according to the plant or lab trials, the economy and feasibility of ethanol fermentation blended with aged wheat was also analyzed for the technical reserve of the process. Finally, after the overall cost calculation of production process and technical improvement investment cost etc,35%wheat mixing ratio of the cooked fermentation process was determined for the large scale production projects.
