Titanium dioxide(TiO2) due to the good optical absorption, high surface activity, wide variety of antibacterial and very stable chemical property, is widely used as a photocatalyst. However, TiO2nanoparticles were difficult recovered, such potentials are seriously limited by the intrinsic wide energy gaps of TiO2, because it is only absorbed by ultraviolet radiation and with a low utilization efficiency of solar energy. The photo-generated electron-hole pairs are also easily combined, which greatly limits its practical application. In order to solve these problems, this paper will use sol-gel method and electrospinning to prepare of TiO2nanofibers simply and quickly, then through the Ag-doped to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2nanofibers and expand its response to visible light, and therefore to improve the utilization of sunlight. The contents were summarized as follows:1. We use sol-gel method and electrospinning to prepare of TiO2and Ag/TiO2nanofibers, through experimental shows that, the phase transition temperature of pure TiO2is500℃, after Ag-doped, the phase transition temperature of Ag/TiO2nanofibers is550℃. With the content of tetrabutyl titanate and PVP increase, the final fiber diameter is larger, with the external electric field strength increase, the final fiber diameter is smaller. After annealing, TiO2fiber is a polycrystalline structure, which is constituted by the arrangement of dense TiO2crystalline particles. From morphology of Ag/TiO2nanofibers, the silver particles attached to the surface of titanium dioxide fibers uniformly.2. The photocatalytic of pure TiO2nanofibers is characterized by degradation of methyl orange solution, methyl orange under UV light irradiation within100min can completely decomposed by rutile TiO2nanofibers, and compared with TiO2nanoparticles, TiO2nanofibers has a higher photocatalytic activity. Photocatalytic performance of Ag/TiO2composite nanofiber is characterized by the experimental results, which were showed that, after Ag-doped, the absorption lines have varying degrees of red shift, and with the increase of the doping concentration, the red shift is more obviously, the optimal value of silver doping is10g/L.
