For the thin and ultra-thin seam, the coal auger is the most effective miningequipment, having the properties of simple working technology, compact structure, highautomation, high production efficiency, labor intensity, good safety, etc. As theimplementation of parts, the screw auger participates in cutting coal and rock. Thedesign of screw auger directly impacts the mining effect and productive efficiency.Presently, few relative researches are conducted in our country. This paper works atfoundation design theory of screw auger, such as screw auger structure, regularities ofarrangement, dynamics of cutting process and influencing factor, etc. Main contents ofthis research could be listed as follows:1) The law of motion is analyzed and a moving model of the screw auger is set upfirstly. The motion simulation is performed by MATLAB, analyzing the effect of theturning radius of pick and rotate speed of screw auger on velocity and acceleration andthe influence of screw pitch on mining effect.2) Addressing issues of the teeth-arrangement, radial array method basis forstandard chip thickness and axial array method basis for optimum intercept areproposed. The teeth arrangement in radial direction, axial direction and circumferencedirection is achieved by the above-mentioned and helix array-method to set up theteeth-arrangement model.3) Load model is set up based on the breaking-theory of screw auger. Then, on thestrength of this load model and combining mathematical statistics method and theory ofrandom processes, the random load model of the screw auger is established. The screwauger load is simulated by MATLAB. The simulation results, random load spectrum andrelated statistics, reflect the random process fairly. Finally, the effects of cuttingparameters on the screw auger load are obtained by simulating the screw auger loadunder different cutting parameters. The effects of these parameters on mining effect areanalyzed to obtain the selecting principles.The research method and theory done in this research for teeth-arrangement,dynamics of cutting process and selecting principles of cutting parameters provide thedesign of screw auger and relevant cutting parameter with important theoretical basisand have some reference value for improving the production efficiency and breakingthrough key technology of mining thin and ultra-thin seam.
