Pulverized coal injection is an important means to reduce costs and improvecompetitiveness in modern iron and steel industry. Along with the increased amount ofpulverized coal injection and coal prices continue to rise, in order to reduce the cost ofpulverized coal injection, iron and steel enterprises are trying to find a coal with excellentperformance and low price. Semi-coke with its excellent features and lower prices hasbeen noticed by the major steel companies. After system research on physical andchemical properties, combustion properties and conveyance performance of JISCO blastfurnace pulverized coal, we found that nubby semi-coke and pulverized semi-coke are nocaking property, sulfur content is relatively low, which is suitable for injection into blastfurnace and helps reduce sulfur load in the blast furnace. But nubby semi-coke andpulverized semi-coke ash content high, low hydrogen content and low calorific value, itwill cause some disadvantageous impacts on improving the combustion rate of blastfurnace tuyere area. At the same time, the coal grindability of nubby semi-coke andpulverized semi-coke are lower, and it will cause disadvantageous impacts on improvingthe output of the coal mill and reducing the Power consumption.Pulverized coal combustion performance and conveying performance are importantindex for the choice of blast furnace injection coal. If the coal’s combustion performanceand conveying performance are poor, we should do reasonable blending beforePulverized coal injection in order to achieve the performance requirements. Usingpulverized coal combustion experiment device and pulverized coal conveyingperformance experiment device imitate the blast furnace tuyere area burning conditionsin JISCO blast furnace original fuel conditions for doing the pulverized coal combustionperformance and conveying performance system research. We found that nubby semi-coke and pulverized semi-coke combustion performance and conveying performance arerelatively poor that not conducive to the improvement of pulverized coal in blast furnacetuyere combustion process and conveying process. In the current raw fuel conditions ofJISCO blast furnace, using nubby semi-coke as blast furnace injection coal, nubby semi-coke ratio should be controlled at around30%in mixed coal; bituminous coal ratio is notless than35%in mixed coal. Ning coal can replace part (or all) Make coal. In the currentraw fuel conditions of JISCO blast furnace, using pulverized semi-coke as blast furnaceinjection coal, pulverized semi-coke ratio should be controlled at around20%in mixedcoal; bituminous coal ratio is not less than30%in mixed coal, Ning coal can replace part(or all) Make coal.
