With the development of production and usage of lithium ion batteries, itswaste volume is also constantly rising. The pressure to the precious metal resourceuse and environmental pollution is also increasing. Considering the domestic andinternational recovery and recycling of spent lithium-ion battery research is limitedin the laboratory research, we develop the study on the recovery of lithium ionbatteries. We studied the pre-treatment experiments of spent lithium-ion battery. Throughthe comparison of different conductive salt solution and concentrations of NaClsolution on the effect of lithium-ion battery, we get the conclusion that the bestconductive concentration of NaCl is5-10g/L. And the same time the crushing effecton the follow-up experiment was also researched. Subsequently, the extent of2cm×2cm is best to the benefit of dissolution and separation effects. The different methods of separation of active substances from fluid collection, including the dissolution of alkali solution, the leaching of the acid solution andhigh temperature heat treatment, were experimented. The electrode slices can bedissolved by the alkali solution effective dissolution, as the result, lithium cobaltoxide material can be separated from the positive electrode. Leaching aciddissolution method can make the material dissolve into the reductive solution. Thecarbon material and the binder can be remover by the high temperature heattreatment. And then the separated lithium cobalt oxide materials after alkali dissolved aswell as high temperature heat treated was made into button battery directly, theinitial discharge capacity of the battery was125.7mAh·g-1at0.5C. In addition, through the method of acid leaching solution, and cobalt oxalate precipitation, andhigh temperature solid-phase synthesis, the initial discharge capacity of thesynthetic lithium cobalt oxide cathode material was121.5mAh·g-1.Considering the different types of lithium-ion battery, the recovery process wasdesigned. Simultaneously, the large-scale recycling was experimented. Ultimately, main parts of spent lithium-ion battery were recovered effectively. The recovery rateof Co was more than90%.
