Granite formed in the depths of the earth, which be widely distributed on theearth and one of the most common type of igneous,is an important part ofthe earthcrust.China is one of the most widely granite-covered countries in theworld. Granite forms a great diversity of granite landform under the Earth’s internaland external forces. Granite landform has scientific research value, and some of thegranite landform combines other geographical factors and outer dynamic geologicalprocess to form the landscape with value of viewing.Qiguoshan Mountain in the Inner Mongolia Balin Zuoqi is one of the mostwidely granite-covered province in China. Granite geomorphic research to understandthe local landform evolution, the development of tourism, and even the whole studyand contrast of the granite landform in Chifeng, has high scientific significance.Based on the previous studies, through field investigation, typical granitelandform in Balin Zuoqi has roggan、deflation column、mtlshroom stone、blowhole、tafone and mortar. The article describes the features of distribution, morphologicalcharacteristics and genetic analysis. There is the most typical、largest and intact group of mortar in QiguoshanMountain. Current state、distribution and morphological characteristics、formation age、the formation cause and evolution process of the mortar are reviewed in this paper.Granite mortar develops in the top of the coarse grain granite, coarse grained granite hill and has huge scale and different size. Qiguoshan Mountain area is the most suitable for studying mortar. Mortar formation in Qiguoshan Mountain is controlled by the following aspects: first, material conditions, exposed in the coarse grain of alkaline granite controls the initial mortar and development; second, the climate conditions are the important external conditions for promoting the mortar; third, the geomorphic conditions, flat morphology is favorable for the formation of the mortar. In this study,we collected two pieces of cosmic-ray exposure age sample at the bottom of the mortar and sent toPurdue University. Test results as follows:5.75±0.047ka BP和5.99±0.03ka BP.Mortar in Qiguoshan Mountain is divided into infancy、adolescence、maturity and decline phase according to the morphological indexes.
