3D terrain visualization,which is relation to geographic information systems (Geographical Information System, referred to as GIS), is becoming more and more important.GIS can be implemented by the form of electronic map for visualization of geographic information,it is dynamic and interactive,people can use it to operate the map expediently.3D terrain visualization represented by GIS is developing quickly, although it is convenient to use and query by the map, it still can’t satisfy people’s needs. Actually2D is no more difference with paper map in the visualization. For the analysis of3D view of terrain visualization,3D way has become the focus in the scope of terrain visualization. OPENGL as the standard interface of3D graphics software is occured, it solves the defects of software and hardware in the scope of3D visualization.3D terrain visualization is benificial to govern environmental in many fields. The research background of this paper is the coal mining subsidence area of Huainan mining group. In recent years, Huainan mining subsidence area is becoming bigger and bigger, it has not only brought the more influence to the surrounding residents, but also caused damage of varying degrees of flood control dams. The water, power and other infrastructure are also affected in the coal mining subsidence area. Unfittable governance can cause the farmland and housing subsidence. If this situation is not controlled, it will destroy the ecological balance and the social sustainable development.According these problems, A digital platform for3D effect of coal mining subsidence area has developed, and it can help to analysis, position and manage the coal mining subsidence area.This paper mainly based on the Huainan mining group’s project that is3D effect digital platform of coal mining subsidence,we will study and analysis the3D terrain visualization.The3D effect digital platform of coal mining subsidence includes two parts:dynamic3D terrain simulation and coal mining subsidence’s GIS system.The main achievements of the thesis are as follow:(1) According to the data provided by Huainan mining group, as well as ArcGIS Engine technology, the3D GIS system of coal mining subsidence area is designed and implemented,which is based on3D visualization. Compared with2D GIS system, it has more improvement and is benifittable to query and browse.(2)Based on two element triangle tree’s ROAM algorithm and the level of detail model (LOD), The improved algorithm to generate the terrain is provided. This algorithm is based on quadrangular segmentation and its data structure is2D array. It is more smooth and realistic for algorithm to process graphics.(3)Combined ArcSDE with Oracle database, the graphic, geographical and user data can be integrated which is convenient to analyze and query data.(4)In the3D GIS system, it can provide browsing, operating simple layer, querying elements, using Eagle Eye and measuring distance.
