The badger teeth has three parts: incisor canine and molar. The incisors in thecentral part of the jaw, shaped like a chisel, it Is conducive to cut off the food, Themolars on both sides of the jaw, molar in the rear part of the incisors, chewingsurfaces is broad, grinding of food play a crucial role.In this paper, the surface topography of badger canine teeth was measured bylaser3D scanning. Surface character scanning points cloud data of badger canine teethwere obtained by the3D software, data reduction was used. Surface reconstructionand smoothness of the error are analyzed.. The re-constructed adaptive model isshown to be able to well matching accuracy requirements.Canines of the adult and young badgers are prepared, mechanical and physicalproperties were tested, and the friction and wear performance of canines of the adultand young badgers were tested respectively using a friction and wear tester. Theresults showed that the crystal columns in the enamel layer are more than those are inthe dentin layer and the size of the former is larger than the later. The size ofpermanent teethes is also lager than deciduous teethes. Crystal columns in enamellayer are more orderly and closely while lots of Glaze interstitial fills among enamelcolumns of the deciduous teeth. The hardness of badgers teethes have the followedrelationship: enamel of permanent teethes> enamel of deciduous teethes> dentin ofpermanent teethes> dentin of deciduous teethes. The friction and wear tester gives theaverage of friction coefficient as followed: the enamel of permanent teethes> theenamel of deciduous teethes. The stability on the friction coefficient on the surface ofthe enamel of permanent teethes is better than it on the enamel of permanent teethesbut there are a lot of peeled scrap on enamel surface. Morphologies of wear surfacesof canines of the adult and young badgers were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the friction characteristics were analyzed. The results showedthat the surface of the canine of the adult badger is smoother than that of the youngerbadger, adult badger teeeh have better wear resistance. We hope that this study canprovide some theoretical basis and experimental support for the bionics and theanimal stomatology.According to the morphologial analysis of badger teeth, the shape andarrangement of the canine teeth and incisive teeth were imitated in this work., Twokinds of chop blade were designed. The three-dimensional finite element model of thechop blade was build up, and the cutting performance was obtained by modal analysismethod.
