In recent years, Slope hazard is one of the main parts of geological disasters all over the world. In order to reduce the losses caused slope disasters, the slope stability and safety should be monitored and forecasted in time. The methods of deformation monitoring have many kinds which have developed from the simple manual acting methods to the high precision instrument measure methods, such as the Geo-robot,3D scan technology and GPS technology, etc. All of them have widely used in monitoring and forecasting in disasters like landslide, collapse etc. By analyzing the deformation mechanism of loess slope, this paper studied the relevant technical theories and programs of loess slope deformation monitoring, introduced the application and characteristics of GPS technology and applied it in a practical engineering slope deformation monitoring. Finally, the gray forecasted model of the slope was established with the monitoring data to predict its deformation tendency.With this topic, the main works of this dissertation are summarized as follows:1. The deformation mechanisms, the inducement causes, the failure models, the prevention and cure measures and the methods, technologies and instruments of side slope deformation monitoring are analyzed, compared and studied, the GPS technology was introduced emphatically in the paper. Then the select principia of the monitoring methods, technologies and instruments of slope deformation are summarized.2. GM(1,1) model, New Information GM(1,1) model, Metabolism GM(1,1) model, DMG(2,1) model, Verhulst model are used to monitoring data. The result shows that the Metabolism GM(1,1) model and Verhulst model are ideal, the gray model is feasible for slope monitoring projects.3. According to the results of monitoring and the actual engineering problems to work out measures to control slope problems.
