Lake is the main urban water resources, the important supplies of agricultural irrigation as well. However, amount of lakes have consistently decreased and its ecological environment has also been damaged because of the climatic changes and human’s overexploitation of the resources. Obviously, monitoring the water amount of lakes will play an important role in urban and agricultural water.Landsat satellite remote sensing images has characteristics of large range, short cycle, real time and free download, which has the incomparable advantage in monitoring the lake water. However, the spatial resolution of TM images can be achieved15m or30m, which will bring large error for monitoring the water amount of lakes. In the demestic country, some researches have been achieved on monitoring the water amount of lakes by using TM image. But, how to improve the monitoring accuracy is still rarely referred. Therefore, to improve the monitoring accuracy of the lake water at a low spatial resolution will be the key to the research. In view of this, the paper carried out the extract research on capacity of the lake based on Images Analogies. First, according to conbine the principle of image analogy with the cubic convolution interpolation method, we can generate super-resolution images, which effectively improve the spatial resolution of TM images. Then, by analyzing properties of the water bodies in super-resolution images, we can carry out extraction tests on information of water body. Analysising the relationship between the slope and elevation, and we can monitor the change of water capacity according to change of water level in the gentle slope area. The vertical change in the water level was translated into the changes of horizontal direction, and extracting waterline information by the regional interpolation method. Finally, by combining the DEM model generated by the lake contour, we can efficiently access to the lake capacity information. Efficiently extract the lakecapacity Infor-mation by using the DEM model which is generated by the lake contour. Then, we make many experiments on using the images of the Lake Jackson. The results show that the precision of lake water level, based on Image Analogies, was improved by an average of0.223feet, and the precision of water capacity was improved by an average of34.812million cubic foot. The method can improve the monitoring accuracy of lake water at the same spatial resolution image conditions, and the evaluation of lake capacity is more accurate, and it will play a certain practical significance on the allocation of water resources, utilization and the government’s management and decision.
