The flower development is an important transition from vegetative growth to reproductive growth of higher plants.FT encodes a protein similar to RAF kinase inhibitor. FT form a complexes with another transcriptional factor FD, and induce the expression of LEAFY(LFY) and API. LFY and API are two key integration factors in flowering regulatory network. In this study, we showed that the FT gene can regulate the expression of LFY and API at posttranslational level by inhibiting the degradation of API and LFY protein via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. ZIP2may be an E3ligase that mediates the ubiquitination of API protein. ZIP2can regulate API protein level and play very important role in flowering processes of Arabidopsis. Our work might provide new ideas for research on other floral regulation factors.
