Haminmangha prehistoric settlement site, as a typical site of Horqin sandy land inInner Mongolia, was voted one of "The top ten archaeological discoveries of the yearof2011". The site has been explored in large areas and it is the best preservedprehistoric site in the area above the45thdegree of northern latitude. The site is in goodcondition, with abundant unearthed objects.In this paper, the environment in Haminmangha site at the time has been basicallyrecovered through methods of Palaeoethnobotany which is based on speciesidentification of unearthed spores&pollen and analysis of habits of plants and plantremains excavated in adjacent archaeological culture, combined with analysis ofwestern Liaoning area environment during the period. In this period, the weather inHamin site was cool and dry, and there was forest and grassland with a certain extentof desertification.Through the study on animal remains unearthed and other information, as well asthe adjacent archaeological culture in surrounding areas, the author also has an initialunderstanding in economy model of the site, which is based on primitive agriculture,combining with hunting, fishing and food production.
