In the domain of military, the rapid development and wide application of computertechnology, navigation and positioning technology and communication technology bringsnew opportunities and challenges for the information war. And the battlefield situation isundergoing a revolution. The importance of getting and deducing battlefield informationbecomes increasingly prominent in today’s battlefield. Therefore, depth study on how toobtain and deduce the real-time battlefield information has important theoretical value andpractical significance for the construction of digital battlefield.Military posture deduction and simulation system is based on GIS (GeographicInformation System) technology. The system is a combination of situation informationsystem and situation deduction system, and it achieves the display and deduction of atwo-dimensional battlefield posture. The initial target of this research is to provide apractical and convenient platform for battlefield commanders to demonstrate plans.Through quick deduction of the battle plans and vivid display of the results, the system isdesigned to help commanders find the defects of plans, then modify and improve the plan. The system has a strong theoretical basis and feasibility, and will be able to get a goodapplication in future information war, thus instead of the traditional deduction withtable-top and sandbox. This article studies deeply the principle and implementation methods of theGIS-based military posture deduction and simulation system. First, the article introducesGIS technology. The application of GIS can manage spatial data, including acquisition, storage, display, edit, process, analysis, output and application, etc. Component GISappropriately abstracts the functionality of GIS, and provides components for developers, which makes component GIS have unmatched flexibility than traditional GIS tools. Thesystem is based on the component GIS platform—SuperMap Objects.NET6R andachieves the display and deduction of battlefield posture. By creating a Socket can achieveto create a two-way communication between personal and the command post. Theplatform uses connectionless-oriented communication protocol—UDP to ensure thetimeliness of data transmission. The system uses the algorithm based on the time step toachieve a display of a two-dimensional battlefield situation. The main functions of GIS-based military posture deduction and simulation systemare: user management, geographic information management, system control and management, log management, command and plan management, data managementfunction and posture deduction. The system can simulate battlefield environment andsituation changes more fully and accurately, and directly reflect dynamic and interactiveresults, which provides a strong support for commanders and decision makers.
